SOME INTERESTING FACTS
What is cabretta leather?
Cabretta is a leather produced from sheep which have hair instead of wool. It is capable of producing exceptionally high quality yet thin golf gloves, that allow the player to gain feel when swinging the club. The leather is produced in India, China, South America, and Africa. Cabretta has a very fine grain and a strong fiber network. For golfers there is no leather alternative to cabretta - don't buy unless the advert clearly states the glove is made totally from cabretta. P.S. Amara and synthetic leather are NOT cabretta.
Why wear a golf glove?
Quite simply, you get a better grip on the golf club, particularly with modern composite golf club grips. In the heat, your hand sweats; in the cold your hand becomes too cold to properly feel the grip. You need to have a grip on the club which allows you to swing with confidence, without worrying about sweaty or frozen hands. Without a glove, few golfers can achieve the correct grip on the club. In addition, it doesn't take long to get blisters if you don't wear a glove!
Why wear a glove only on your left hand (for right handed golfers)?
Most of the movement in the hands during a golf swing is within the left hand. By comparison the right hand, while still gripping the club, takes much less movement during the swing. When you next wear out a golf glove have a look where the worn areas are. If they are in the palm of the hand you're probably holding the club about right. If the worn areas are in the fingers you're probably holding the club too tight.
Why do professional golfers always wear a white glove?!
This has little to do with fashion. A white golf glove has had less dye injected in to the leather, so it's softer. Compare a white cabretta glove with a similar black glove and you'll immediately see a big difference - the white glove is noticably softer.
